Job Purpose and Context
SunGard Public Sector (Aspiren) is continuing to expand the service it provides to Local Authorities in the UK. As part of this expansion, further functionality will be provided to the portfolio of hosted Aspiren systems, covering decision support, performance management reporting and statutory reporting to central government.
To help facilitate this continued growth, SunGard Public Sector are looking to recruit an additional senior web developer to the team.
Outline of Routine Tasks/Duties/Responsibilities
The role includes:
- Developing the web front end to applications used by our wide client base
- Taking the business requirements, and developing the solution architecture with other team members
- Working with server side developers to deliver the entire solution
- Utilising agile development methodology
- Provide 3rd line support for live systems
Duties will include:
- Development of components for variety of web based applications
- Working with product manager to clarify requirements, proposing alternative solutions and identifying opportunities for future development
- Working with other senior developers to develop the overall solution architecture
- Utilising agile development methodology
- Working with test team to resolve issues and bugs, and complying with various quality processes
- Work on directed research topics as required

Essential Skills:
- Excellent javascript knowledge, with experience of using modern frameworks and libraries (ExtJs or jQuery a plus) to build rich internet applications.
- Excellent asp.net and Ajax skills
- Strong css and xhtml knowledge
- Passion for emerging web trends and technologies
- Demonstrable portfolio of web sites and projects
- Excellent understanding of cross-browser and cross-platform issues
Desirable Skills:
· ASP.NET MVC
· 1+ year experience of Microsoft server side technologies such as C#, MS-SQL and Web Services
· Strong visual and user focused design skills
· Graphics manipulation/optimization skills using Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.
· Strong understanding of usability and accessibility
· Knowledge of modern development techniques such as TDD, continuous integration and related tools
Academic / Vocational Qualifications:
- Technology based degree
- Microsoft MCPD Web Developer, MCSD, or MCAD certification.
