Job Purpose and Context
The Role Holder will be responsible for the purchasing of goods and services for SunGard Public Sector Limited.
Outline of Routine Tasks/Duties/Responsibilities
Within your business area:
- Understand the strategic purchasing requirements and deliver value adding services
- Working under defined policies and procedures the role holder will source new suppliers and agree pricing and supply terms.
- Manage key suppliers in accordance with a supplier management process.
- Negotiate, draft and conclude contractual terms with suppliers. Assist Principal Buyer as directed.
- Bid support including identifying suppliers, concluding supply terms and requesting and receiving of pricing proposals.
- Contribute to the plans for strategic purchasing
- To maintain a professional purchasing service to SunGard Public Sector Limited as appropriate to the wider SunGard corporate entities, supporting the Principal Buyer.
Other Information
The role holder should demonstrate an:
- Understanding of simple goods and services supply contract structures.
- Ability to identify important features of supply contract and services based contracts
- Ability to plan and negotiate prices and standard contract terms with suppliers.
- Ability to conduct supplier assessments and performance appraisals of commodity and key/strategic suppliers.
In addition:
- Basic understanding of software licensing agreements including support
- Knowledge of an enterprise purchasing and finance system
- Basic financial awareness
