Job Purpose and Content
SunGard are working with Logica as part of the development of a new national police data sharing system - the Police National Database. A substantial application development programme is under way, based on use of a range of technologies including Java EE, Oracle Service Bus (BEA Aqualogic), Oracle / BEA WebLogic Server and Oracle RDBMS. As part of this development, we have a need for a Senior Test Analyst. Initially the Senior Test Analyst will be assigned to a specific functional area for which they will be responsible for analysing the requirements from a testing perspective, and for producing the system test specifications.
Outline of Routine Tasks/Duties/Responsibilities
- The role is within the overall programme reporting to a Test Team Leader or Test Manager will involve:
- Assisting in defining test plans, specifications and descriptions / scripts.
- Carrying out integration and system testing activities in accordance with the agreed plans, specifications and descriptions / scripts.
- Working under the direction of a team leader in accordance with defined project processes and procedures.
- Although this role is not for team leader roles, there may be opportunities at a later date to lead teams of testers.
The role will require:
- the ability to work to agreed timescales and cost in a fixed price environment.
- Coordination with the overall programme team to ensure objectives are met;
Initially the Test Analysts will be assigned to a specific functional area for which they will be responsible for analysing the requirements from a testing perspective, and for producing the system test specifications. They will also work with the test manager in the production of test plans.
The role requires:
- Significant demonstrable experience of software testing; and in particular system test specification work;
- Good analytical and practical problem solving skills;
- Good XML knowledge;
- Strong interpersonal skills that will be required to resolve issues with other workstreams and client.
Other Information
Project will be based in Reading (M4 J11) with occasional visits to the customer offices in London.
Must be (or willing and able to) security cleared through the National Non-Policing Personnel Vetting (Level 3) Process. Candidates will be expected to attend an interview in Reading, and if successful will be required to provide evidence of security clearance or complete the security clearance process before commencing work.

Experience of fixed price application development projects using Java / Oracle / Web technologies.
Experience of working on large programmes.
Experience of working in a mixed team comprising staff from different Logica areas and subcontractor staff.
Qualified to a level at least equivalent to the ISEB Foundation Certificate in Software Testing.
Experience of working with Public Sector organisations.
Knowledge and experience of IBM Rational test & OR tools (e.g. Quality Manager and ClearQuest)
Academic/Vocational Qualifications
Degree Educated or equivalent
